Yes, it's shameful self-promotion time...

I provided the photography for this book a couple of years ago and it's just been reprinted. For someone who's been given a camera for Christmas and wants something to get them underway with Photoshop and photography in general I would say it's pretty good. Available at the usual outlets, and Amazon of course.
