Cannizaro House and Woldingham School

Hmmm, not really the weather we’d been hoping for….. But all six weddings we shot in August were great days, rain or shine.

Sarah and Peter’s wedding was almost like a film directed from Above. A steady, pervasive drizzle going into the church, wall-to-wall sunshine coming out.

I know many photographers spend a lot of time preventing flare in their pictures, even going to the lengths of cloning out those ‘colour circles’. I really like them, as long as they’re not obscuring the subjects too much.

Sarah couldn’t bear to wait a day for the CD’s in the post, so asked me to send her the link to the images online:

I couldn’t resist having a look online, will definately look at the CD’s when they come, but if they are going to look better than them, they will be out of this world!

Thank you so much, they are the most beautiful pictures, I absolutely love them.

thank you thank you thank you

Suzanne and Jeff were married at Woldingham school in Surrey. Here’s Suzanne just before leaving the house.

Plenty of kilts on display, and the second piper in two weeks for us.

Gabriella and Simon were married at Cannizaro House, a venue I’ve visited more than any other.

It’s amazing to think that The Trafalgar in Greenwich was where William Gladstone and Charles Dickens could be found dining, 170 years ago.

Angela and Ross used it fot their venue…

Angela’s house had a fantastic bright red wall, and I think it works well as the background to this image.

I received a lovely email from them both:

David

Thank you so much for photos.

They are amazing! Our friends and family have said how brilliant they are. They are all of a high quality but within this, there are so many stand out photos, ones that cause a collective intake of breath in the audience when they are shown.

We’ll be in contact by phone or in person soon.

Best wishes,

Angela & Ross.

Kew Steam Museum and Coltsford Mill

Plenty of variety in June at some fantastic locations.

Beckie and Charlie had their reception at the Kew steam museum….

Complete with steam train!

I received a smashing email from Becky:

Hi David

Wow! The pictures are stunning.

Many thanks to you and Lucy for doing such an excellent job, you have exactly captured the mood of the day – which is a good thing because it was such a haze to us both that you’ve helped fill in some of the gaps!

Very best wishes, Becky

A few years ago I was asked to shoot a wedding in Gloucestershire by Karen and Simon. I forget how they found me, but they did, and a grand day was had by all. Long story short, Karen told Hannah about me and I shot her wedding too. Hannah’s hairdresser liked my salon shots so I worked with Martin at Josh Hair in Cirencester to make some strong images for the National L’Oreal Hair champs. Hannah also told Gemma about me and I went back to Gloucestershire to shoot her wedding, an image from which is on the home page of my site. And this June Hannah’s sister Katie got married to Patrick in Cirencester and….yes, I shot their wedding. Despite living 130 miles away it seems I’ve become the local Cirencester photographer

Here’s Katie, in dramatic light, outside the church.

Lucy swears that this wasn’t a lucky shot and she noticed the cool height composition. I for one believe her:)

Some more shots from June:

This last image is of Emma who got married at a picturesque old mill in Kent, Colsford Mill. I got back from a week’s holiday to find a very effusive note in my inbox:

Hi David,

AMAZING PHOTOS!!!!!!!!!!!!! How are we ever going to choose the ones we want for the album!!!

Thanks Emma! (!!!!!)

Lansdowne Place

Ros and Neil were married at St Bride’s, a very old Fleet Street church and for 500 years the spiritual home of printing and the media.

The reception was at the glamorous Lansdowne Place in the heart of Mayfair.

Berkeley Square…

I like this image as it looks slightly innocuous at first blush….

Ros sent me a very flattering note:

Hi David

We looked at the photos last night – they are absolutely wonderful and we are delighted with them, thank you. The slideshow is brilliant, far better than a video of the day in my opinion!

Many thanks

Ros

Middle Temple

On the 1st of March I shot a great wedding at Temple Inn in Central London, a venue dripping in British history..

Meanwhile, back at the hairdresser’s…..

A very flash Mayfair salon provided great light. It was a little like working in a huge softbox.

Here’s a fantastically daring black wedding dress

Anna was on honeymoon in Bermuda when she emailed me. She couldn’t wait until returning to the UK so could I send her the link to the images online?

Hi David

Well….since we had access to the link you might notice that we couldn’t help peeking;-)

The pictures are amazing!! Both Mark and I have huge smiles on our faces! How are we ever going to be able to pick which photos we want for the book???

Thanks again so very much for everything! Thanks to Lucy as well.

Take care,

Anna
