Grasiela and Samuel, Oxfordshire

Sam and Grasiela certainly won the weather lottery at their outdoor wedding in Oxfordshire.

Grasiela is Brazilian so didn’t have any issues with the heat.

I got a great email from Sam after their honeymoon:

Hi David,

Thanks to both of you, it looked like you worked very hard indeed!  We had a great day and happily everyone else seems to have enjoyed themselves too.

Thanks again for the images, they’re great.

Regards

Sam

Clare et Andre, Corsica

Patrice, a keen photographer, found me when I was visiting Aix en Provence in France two years ago. He asked me if I could photograph his daughter’s wedding in Corsica – how could I refuse?

Clare got ready in a smashing beach chalet a few metres from the sea. The wedding ceremony setting was extraordinary – an outdoor cliff-top chapel overlooking Bonifacio. Back to the beach for the reception, with a phenomenal display of food and fantastic driftwood table centrepieces. Plenty of homemade songs and films went on well into the evening

Here’s part of an email that Patrice has mailed. I hope my translation is accurate!

Thank you for these beautiful pictures, which reflect so well the atmosphere of the wedding. I knew what I was doing in hiring you as a photographer . Your photos have been enjoyed by everyone, and maybe you’ll have future clients in France ….

Excellent tones and comp. Very appealing. I especially like the use of available light, great focusing technique and your subjects appear natural and at ease. Nicely done.

Your wedding photos are awesome. I love the shot of the bride and groom walking on the pier, Beautiful.

Newland Hall

I don’t go to Essex very often, and I hadn’t visited Newland Hall before, a fabulous 15th century Tudor manor house near Chelmsford where Rob and Marianne were married.

Marianne and Rob sent me a nice email:

Just an email to say thanks so much for the wonderful wedding photos you took on our special day. Rob and I have looked through the shots you captured and they are exactly what we wanted; the ones of us walking through the field at sunset are especially wonderful!

Please pass on our thanks to Lucy aswell, but needless to say we are very happy with the results!

Lucy - July 29, 2011 - 12:31 pm

Stunning! I adore the shot of Marianne getting into the car, those reflections make it so ethereal, love you prep shots especially.

This is ever so beautiful – the images are all fantastic but the penultimate one, in the field with the sunshine… enchanting.

Top 10 UK Wedding Photographer

It seems my 2011 season is off to a flying start – thanks very much to Nick Rose, who has included me in his UK Wedding Photographer Top 10 . It’s great to be in the company of Jeff Ascough and David Pullum, amongst others.

Nick mentions my site’s ‘happy vibe’, and I think I do gravitate towards the laughter and spontaneity of the day, rather than the more austere and somber feel to images that some of my contemporaries prefer. Not that I dislike their approach; I find it deeply impressive in context, especially during the ceremony. A time and a place for everything, then.

And I’m pleased you like the music, Nick!

Clare - November 23, 2011 - 5:46 pm

Just catching up on your latest work – stunning as always! We certainly sit and look at our wedding photographs from you LOTS! Well done for making it into Nick’s selection too! Cx

Anna and Michael

Despite living in Dulwich, I seem to be becoming the local Oxfordshire wedding photographer, with three in the last few months.

Anna got ready for her wedding at the fabulous Hope House Hotel, in Woodstock.

Hi David,

Just a quick note to echo M’s email yesterday. The photos really are WONDERFUL and we had such a special time on Tuesday evening going through them. I loved the music for the slideshow!

You and Lucy, as Mike said, captured so many details and most importantly the whole spirit of the day. I love that there is so much movement in so many of the photos. They are beautifully unique and we have several serious favourites. I was amazed at how discreet you were in taking the photos – I hardly noticed either of you yet on the basis of the photos taken you both seemed to be everywhere at once and right at the heart of the action at all times!  As you can imagine the day is a bit of a blur still for both of us, but your photos are helping us to see what we didn’t and are prompting memories which is fab.

Thank you also for the lovely framed picture. That is such a kind and thoughtful gesture – I was so touched – and it is already in pride of place on the mantelpiece. We will definitely be in touch regarding the albums once we are settled back into the swing of things. Coming back to work has been a bit of a shock to the system!

Once again many thanks to you both. We would not hesitate for a second to recommend you to any other clients, so please let us know if there is anything we can do on that front.

Best regards,

Anna
Hi David.

Thank you so much for all your work on the 14th, we love the photos. We are so glad you enjoyed the day so much but you two seemed to be working so hard I can’t believe you had too much fun! The results are fantastic though and exactly the sort of thing we were after. You really captured many of our friends and family in a very expressive, very real light and photos of the smaller details of the day you took look lovely to. We hardly noticed most of them at the time!

Best wishes

Mike

Lovely blend of contemporary and vintage.

Silvia Cataudo - June 10, 2011 - 9:09 pm

Absolutely lovely set of images! Really like the BW images of the dance.

Ashley Wood Farm, Wiltshire

Sarah and Graham actually only live a mile from me in Dulwich but they were married at Sarah’s family home in Wiltshire. Her Father owns a fantastic classic so there wasn’t any need to hire a wedding car. Later on at the reception we were treated to some fantastic music on the day, with an ex-Gypsy King member flown in from the South of France.

Beautiful set of wedding photos. The couple portraits are excellent!

Houston Wedding Photographer - August 4, 2011 - 10:09 pm
